Hi! I am Brent Lehman, Superintendent of the Randolph Eastern School Corporation, and it is my pleasure to welcome you to our district website. You will find this website to be a very useful tool, user friendly, and full of answers to your questions about our schools. Our unified complex which houses North Side Elementary, West Side Middle School, and Union City Community High School is located in Union City, Indiana. Each building hosts a separate web page which can be accessed from this district home page. Please check out the links under “Our Schools”.
North Side Elementary, which includes grades K-5, offers excellent literacy instruction, full day kindergarten for all students, and Reading Recovery assistance for those students who need that little extra to become successful readers. These opportunities staffed by caring and knowledgeable teachers result in a tradition of successful students on state assessments.
West Side Middle School, houses grades 6-8. These transition years provide many challenges for students and their parents. The middle school staff understands these unique challenges. Through the use of the middle school concept, the efforts of teacher teams focused on student growth, and a strong counseling program focused on supporting students and parents, this learning environment provides a positive, successful education.
Union City Community High school offers a diverse array of courses and career paths. These opportunities are provided through a variety of programs including standard on site courses, a local TV station, the Indiana University ACP Program, the Muncie Career Center, and inter local agreements with neighboring schools. Our latest opportunity includes an alternative energy education program created in conjunction with the construction of two 1 megawatt wind turbines; one for the city and one for the school. These will be wonderful learning resources and provide revenue for the school and community in the years to come. We are proud of the successes our students achieve and we believe we can meet the needs of your children.
Enjoy the website and I hope to meet you in person in the near future. I would consider it a privilege to introduce you to our wonderful community and show you first hand the outstanding education opportunities throughout our district.
Brent Lehman
