Gov. Mitch DanielsWe are very proud of our three schools, which all offer exceptional opportunities for students. North Side Elementary, which houses K-5, offers an outstanding literacy program, which emphasizes phonics as well as comprehension. We have Reading Recovery teachers who offer services to children needing that extra something to become better readers. We offer an extended day kindergarten for those students who need that extra time.

West Side Middle School truly exemplifies the middle school concept. Students take classes with a team of teachers who get to know them quite well both academically and extra-curricularly. Students have opportunities for learning piano keyboarding, may start formal band and choir in sixth grade, and have opportunities for drama and athletics. We have an outstanding peer mediation program at all schools, but it is particularly helpful during the sometimes difficult "tween" years.

Union City Community High School offers a full array of academics, extra-curricular activities, fine arts, and sports. Through the Indiana University ACP Program, students can leave high school with college credit in English, math and sciences. We have a radio and TV program that broadcasts through the community cable station. Through partnerships with other county schools and the Muncie Area Career Center, our students can receive specialized training ranging from health care to computer networking. UCCHS has the highest graduation rate in Randolph County and the surrounding area at 90.5%. WE are proud of our students and our staff.

Welcome to our web site, but better yet, visit us in person. We exemplify the saying "Bigger isn't always better."
